Representaion In Favor Of Books Out of the Dust

When Billie Jo is just fourteen she must endure heart-wrenching ordeals that no child should have to face. The quiet strength she displays while dealing with unspeakable loss is as surprising as it is inspiring.

Written in free verse, this award-winning story is set in the heart of the Great Depression. It chronicles Oklahoma's staggering dust storms, and the environmental--and emotional--turmoil they leave in their path. An unforgettable tribute to hope and inner strength.

Red's the color I've stayed ever since. Daddy named me Billie Jo. He wanted a boy. Instead, he got a long-legged girlwith a wide mouthand cheekbones

Tough read. But then the Dust Bowl was a tough time to live through. Moments in this story are very dark and depressing. But then the Dust Bowl was a dark depressing time. Those who lived through it couldn't get away from it. Dust was their constant unconquerable bane and companion. What I think this story is really about is

This book is so depressing I wanted to shoot myself.
