Patrick Lee is a skilled writer and The Breach is a creative story. I liked it enough that I'm interested in moving on to the second book in the series, and I would easily recommend it to people. The first 1/3 of the story is intriguing, atmospheric and suspenseful.But, I almost wanted to give this three stars instead of four because there's a long scene in the middle that goes way over the top. The body count is ridiculous and unnecessary, and my already maxed out suspension of disbelief began

I've wanted to read this author for awhile. I loved that this story takes place in Alaska, since I am from there. So that was fun for me. Basically this was a fun little read, but it was so incredibly far-fetched. Sometimes, far-fetched can be fun too, but this seemed beyond me. I had a hard time truly embracing this, but I can't deny that it was enjoyable. So 3 stars and I will read more by this author. I liked his characters and the plot seemed well thought out.

This novel appeared to be listed as a thriller, it was that but it was also more science fiction. No spaceships but aliens, other intelligence's and time travel making a good read. The main character is Travis Chase, who is an ex-convict, ex-police detective and the son of drug barons or is he. Appearances are never quite as they seem. Read more if you dare! but don't Whisper.

I gave it four stars for sheer concept. The plot is so outrageous it's almost fun? but also frightening. It moves as fast or faster than the former TV show 24, has unexpected turns, plenty of dead bodies, and some detailed gory violence as well. At one point I actually had to skip over some of those details - my imagination gets the better of me. I did have a little eye roll and sigh about the ending, but I suppose that can be attributable to expecting to write a series. Overall it was a good

I had already read Ghost Country by Patrick Lee which was the second to the series and really enjoyed it. A hard core sci-fi that gets you thinking. So - I picked up the first book, The Breach, which also features Travis Chase and I enjoyed this one even more. Action packed and doesn't quit throughout the whole book. Creative way to incorporate technology perhaps a thousand years from now. I could say much more exciting things but don't want to spoil it. A good fast read.
