It is well worth a read an endlessly fascinating book by a fascinating man. The idea is that there is basically only one story, the grand story of our lives, the monomyth. This is one of those books which is very difficult to read. Campbell offers mythology examples from all over the world to build his framework. It is a book you need to read slowly to digest it, and read you should - the framework for the hero is important!
